God's Existence

The Second Adam

Romans 5:17
For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.
NIV

Jesus is referred to in Scripture as the second or last Adam.

1 Corinthians 15:45 - And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. (NKJV)

This example is drawn from the ideas that both Jesus and Adam came into the world free of sin -- and that they were to be the Fathers of a people who worshipped and honored God. Adam failed, Jesus did not.

The First Adam and the Second Adam are the only two men created without sin

Between the First and Second Adam is the record of man's sin and God's plan of salvation available to all through the Second Adam.

John 1:51 - And He said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, hereafter you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.” (NKJV)

Jesus is the "staircase...between earth and heaven."

Matthew 1:21 - "And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” (NKJV)
