For those interested about or concerned about the existence of the Gospel of Judas, here is some additional information.
The newly discovered Gospel of Judas has created much publicity, especially among those who hope to demonstrate to the world that Christianity is false. The so-called Gospel is a remarkable document in the sense of its condition and ancient age. Even the friendly article I read characterized the manuscript as Gnostic in authorship, making it the writing of a cult, in our modern terms. Those of the third century would have called it the work of heretics.
The document does not call for Christians to worry about their faith nor to develop new methods to support their burden of proof. This document is just one of many that attack the faith. What I most find amazing about it, is that its discovery and release come at a time filled with many such efforts to overcome Christianity. It is as though Satan is imposing a major effort at this time in the life of planet Earth to overcome the Christian faith.
For those seeking more information about the document and about a Christian approach to it, I call your attention to a new article published on Crosswalk.com this week by R. Albert Mohler, Jr. is president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. The article is found here.
