The Trinity
The Person of the Holy Spirit
1 Corinthians 12:13
For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or
Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.
NASB
The Holy Spirit acts with all the personality necessary to define Him as a "person, " one having will, intellect, and emotions. Consider:
He reproves:
John 16:8 And He, when He comes, will convict the
world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment
He teaches:
1 John 2:27 As for you, the anointing which you
received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach
you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and
is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.
He speaks:
Galatians 4:6 Because you are sons, God has sent
forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!"
He leads:
Galatians 5:18 But if you are led by the Spirit,
you are not under the Law.
He ministers:
Ephesians 4:30 Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of
God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
He is grieved and quenched:
1 Thessalonians 5:19 Do not quench the Spirit
He separates men to service:
Acts 13:2 While they were ministering to the Lord
and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul
for the work to which I have called them."
And, even as the Holy Spirit is a Person, so, too, He is God!
