1 Samuel
The Condition of Your Heart
Romans 1:20-21
For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
KJV
So, what is the condition
of your heart?
AfterwardORThe Beginning of Your End |
First Samuel is about having a heart for service. Scriptures make it clear that this heart for service comes from only one source – God.
David and Saul present the contrasts of this heart for God. One man turns to God, the other turns away from God.
In addition, First Samuel teaches us there is only one way to worship God. That way is God’s way. To convert all of this into New Testament terms, First Samuel teaches:
Romans 3:23
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Romans 5:8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 10:13
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Romans 10:9,10
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
You can only have a heart for service to God if you have God in your heart. This may only be accomplished when you turn to God in the manner God has provided. That manner is through the shed blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
We must confess our sins, repent and desire to change, and invite Jesus to become the Lord and Master of our lives. Only then may we possess a heart for service.

If not pray this prayer NOW:
Dear Father God,
Your Word shows that I have sinned and need to be saved by Jesus Christ. I hereby confess my sins and repent of them, turning to you, Jesus. I believe that you died for my sins, were resurrected, and now live. I hereby ask you to forgive me my sins and to become Lord of my life. Father, I thank you for my salvation in Jesus’s name. Amen.
