Itchy Ears
2 Timothy 4:3-4
3 For a time is coming when people will no longer
listen to right teaching. They will follow their own desires and will
look for teachers who will tell them whatever they want to hear. 4 They
will reject the truth and follow strange myths.

The Lord does not see us.
We can clearly draw parallels to modern society. Ecologist and environmentalist worship the earth above God and, so it seems, above men. Bird&s nests take dominion over man's needs. I do not want to make it appear I am against the preservation of natural resources. Certainly part of the commandment of Genesis is that man is to care for the earth. But, there is a clear difference between taking care of nature and preserving one lone bird nest for the sake of the bird as against the best interest of mankind. As with the Temple at the time of Ezekiel, man has drawn idols on the walls of the church.
We do this "in the dark" for God does not see us. God does not see us because most of society does not believe in God. They have moved beyond Ezekiel's Jerusalem to the end times apostasy recorded by Paul in 2 Timothy 3 and 4. Men have "itchy" ears and lesson to what they want to hear and nothing else. The Words of God fall on deaf ears. The Lord has not forsaken the land. The people have forsaken the Lord.
This is a terrible plight. It is the work of the true church to get the message out to all that God is still watching over us and desires that we come to a saving knowledge of Him. This knowledge must be based upon an understanding and belief that Jesus is the only pathway to heaven. America resembles the abominations of Ezekiel. In God's timeframe, judgment is just around the corner.
But, God is not done with Ezekiel:
Ezekiel 8:13
And He said to me, "Turn again, and you will
see greater abominations that they are doing."
There are even worse things at hand.
Ezekiel 8:14
So He brought me to the door of the north gate
of the Lord's house; and to my dismay, women were sitting there weeping
for Tammuz.
Tammuz was a Syrian and Phoenician god of fertility. The worship of Tammuz included idols and elaborate rituals, probably involving sexual rights. Adonis, the Greek deity, was apparently derived from Tammuz. The "weeping" was most likely a chant of a litany of woes (a song, of lamentation). This is a cult that was clearly active within the gates of the Temple at the time of the Babylonian invasion. Clearly the people had taken other gods and placed them before Jehovah.
