Actress suggests marriage is "unrealistic." Is it?
Kate Hudson says monogamy isn't "realistic," but believes couples have the power to be faithful. In an interview Thursday on syndicated TV show "Access Hollywood," the 26-year-old actress said, "I don't believe (monogamy) is realistic. But, I believe that we, as people, have the power to make it happen." This comes from the MSN movie news web site with a date of Aug 5.
One has to weep over such a humanistic views. When persons who are views as role models start telling us it is not realistic to expect marriages to work, why should the young people of the world pay any attention to those of the Christian community? This is especially true when the role models attempt to soften their words by suggesting it is human power that makes a relationship work.
Monogamy, along with everything else in life, is a fruit of our relationship with God. Clearly the Genesis story and the words of Christ in Matthew 19:4-6 make it clear that God views marriage as one man and one woman for life. Jesus tells us that all fruit we produce must involve Him.
John 15:5 (NKJV)
I am the vine, you are the branches.
He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
Man's power will not create a monogamous marriage. Only God can strengthen the human hearts enough to allow two people to dwell together as husband and wife for 10, 20, 50, or more years. Pray for the world. God is slowly disappearing from all parts of life. People get their morals, advice, and life directions from idols who resemble people rather than sticks and stones on a pedestal. Nonetheless, they are still idols and false gods. Only Jesus will help.
