Short comments concerning the upgraded web site.
Well, this took a lot longer than I anticipated. If any of you have been checking back for either new material or the new site, I apologize.
I am a one-man operation. I have also fought a lot of pain over the past two-and-a-half years, although that is not an excuse, just a comment about why I cannot work as steadily as I would like. I have ask for prayer about my pain and have set up a category about pain in this blog so that we might share. Perhaps, this will help someone with a similar problem.
In general terms, the new web site has been prepared primarily using Dreamweaver, with the help of a bunch of extensions from InterAKT. The site is PHP driven using MySql as the database. Someday I may discuss the reason for PHP over ASP.NET.
I will leave the accessibility discussion and standards discussion for another time.
The new site is still mostly the old. I have moved all of the static pages into the database and reduced the old site from about 670 pages of study to about thirty pages. In the long run this will make it easier to add material. I have added a survey on church history based upon a course taught at church. In addition I have added the in-depth theological studies section. These are four-to-seven page studies on a given set of verses or topic (such as justification). These arose out of my Doctorate of Theology studies; there are about 50 studies in total. When the new site goes live I will have five or so of these posted and will get the balance into the database as soon as possible.
Thanks for your patience and for continuing to support the site with your visits.
Jim
