The week seems to be ending about where I saw it start. I feel the same -- do you?
My last couple of posts have been centered around the Christian life and varying forms of persecution against how we live. This may seem like a general, disconnected attack, for much of it is always something that is somewhere else and involves other people. Yet, eventually such attacks will catch up with all of us.
Oddly enough this topic arose briefly at our weekly Saturday monrning men's Bible study. Is the end near? Depnds upon what you consider near. Based upon the signs, will it occur today or tomorrow or next week? The odds are against it, at least from my perspective. But, if the end means sometime in, say, the next fifty years, then I think the odds are pretty high.
After posting my comments on Thursday, I read the daily email alert from the Family Research Council. The lead story is about another attack on the church. This one is much more familiar -- another icon of the church being attacked by the ALCU. In this case, it is a Cross in the San Diego area. Apparently, according to the FRC email, "Despite the fact that 75 percent of local residents voted to keep the Mount Soledad cross by transferring it to the National Park Service, the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has given San Diego only until August to remove the cross from public property."
We have witnessed many similar examples of such legal requirements over the past year as the courts continue to apply a very liberal interpretation to the Constitution's concept of separation of church and state. While the law attacks the right of society to witness to its faith, the world of science is preparing another attack on creation.
I noted earlier in the week that scientists were urging everone from the highest level of education to parents to continue pushing evolution and burying creationism. Now, scientists are preparing a scientific experiment to "repeat" the "big bang." If I were a scientist I suppose this would be exciting, although it is unclear to me exactly what they expect to learn.
No one knows the true conditions of space prior to creation, whether such creation came from a God or a bang. So, the scientists have to have created a set of assumptions. Based upon these assumptions, they will run this experiment to repeat that initial bang. Seems to me all this will do is prove their initial set of presumptions and the consquences that flow from such assumptions. The experiment will certainly not prove God. Nor can it really prove creation from the explosion. It just proves some set of assumptions.
Oh well. Evolution is a religion, a religion that does not believe in a God. So it is merely the other side of the coin. God or not God. God or evolution. Creationism or Evolution.
It all seems pretty clear to me and I do not need to spend millions of dollars recreating the first big bang. I believe in God so I do not need the experiment, since my belief is based upon faith. These scientists do not believe in God. Yet, they deem it necessary to spend all of this money in an effort to prove their point. Why?
Well, one answer is something like:
Romans 1:18-19 (KJV)
Romans 1:18 (KJV) For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
God has shown Himself to even these scientists in the very creation they are so desperate to prove arose from means other than a Creator. God has placed in each of us a God-spark or a void that only God can fill. In our early childhood we recognize this. If we are blessed, we will continue to recognize God. Sadly, most people suppress this fact, as Paul writes in Romans. Yet, that God-hole is present in even those who do not profess to believe in God. As a result, they have this desperate need to prove themselves right. They have to prove God does not exist as part of their efforts suppress they God-spark
Aren't you glad to don't have to spend all of this energy disproving God? Aren't you glad you belief in Jesus? It makes life so much easier.
