Why does mankind think he knows everything? Why can he not see God in Creation?
This summer my family spent a week in the Virginia Beach area. While there we visited the Virginia Maritime Museum. I am not certain this is really the correct name, but this museum is dedicated to nature and the sea. It is a wonderful experience, with two sections within walking distance of each other and a beautiful acquarium set-up. My wife took multitudes of pictures. She has created a screen saver with many of these photographs.
Several of the photos are of sea creatures -- fish, sea horses, rays, and other similar water life. As I lay here waiting for a pain pill to "kick in" I marvel at God's creation. I am reminded of Paul's writings in the first chapter of Romans. First in verse 20 Paul makes it clear that we should see God in creation.
Romans 1:20 (NKJV)
20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse
Then a couple of verses later, Paul explains what happens to those who fail to discover God in the heavens.
Romans 1:22-25 (NKJV)
22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. 24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
When you consider the number of creatures simply in the ocean, how can there not be a God? How could so many different looking, differently decorated, different species of fish and sea life have arisen from a primoral mass of goo which develop through "luck?" It is a little bit like modern day computer programing. The emphasis is on treating every thing as an object and writing about that object. You can reuse code. For example, you can create an internal organ system with a heart, and blood, and arteries, then build upon this by changing it slightly for humans, for cattle, for horses, for dogs, for cats, etc. You could even modify it for cold water beings such as fish and frogs. Seems to me this explains what God did and why so many different animals have the same internal organs. Object oriented programming is not new. God invented the concept at creation!
It is too bad that so many fail to understand how unique mankind truly is. There is no proof for the evolutionary "jumps" from one type of species to the next. But, oject oriented programming explains it easily. A higher being determined a method for life and then reproduces the basics in each new life form He creates. What could be clearer? Why is mankind so full of himself and wanting to be able to explain everything by his terms instead of accepting the supernatural.
