Christianity >> Events continue to pile up!

I posted a couple of blogs last week concerning the discoveries of links in the evolutionary chain and the discovery of the manuscript they are calling the Gospel of Judas. Now . . .

I posted a couple of blogs last week concerning the discoveries of links in the evolutionary chain and the discovery of the manuscript they are calling the Gospel of Judas. Now this week we find another evolutionary link in Africa relating to humans, not fish and land animals.

The news article entitled Fossil discovery fills gap in human evolution is posted here on MSN.

Apparently this discovery adds nothing new to evidence except that its location is within a day's walk of other discoveries that help to form a chain in the evolution process, or some such.

My real interest in this article comes from a note made last week, namely the concern over so many attacks upon Christianity in such a short time.  We have the two discoveries last week, the one today, the new up-coming movie of the Da Vinci Code, and multiple local newspaper articles concerning all sorts of items that at least indirectly attack Christianity. I even came across a blog today discussing a new mathematical study that relates census data to crimes and other adverse personal events like divorce, concluding that areas with religion have high occurences of these anti-social activities.  Of course, the conclusion is that religion is bad. While this article is aimed at religion in general, since Christianity is the most popular religion, it will take the brunt of the attack.

It was interesting to see that most of the comments on that blog were against the study, but on mathematical, not religious grounds.  Oh well.

I remain concerned that as Easter approaches, we have such a large increase in attackes against the faith.  As mentioned previously, Paul writes in 2 Timothy 3 that in the last days there will be a great increase in the efforts of Satan and false teachers.  Now, there are two ways of looking at this chapter.  One is to conclude that the last days are the entire church age. We certainly have seen a large number of efforts to wipe out Chrsitianity. Obviously none have succeeded.

On the other hand, the last days could mean the final period before the Rapture of the Church and the Tribulation Period leading to the Second Return of Christ.  This would make sense.  While no man knows the time of this event, Satan and his followers can aniticipate in a general sense the possible practical approach of the End.  Why not? We have plenty of believers attempting to determine how close to the Rapture we may be.  Satan certainly can play that same game.

So, since there are so many factors that add up to suggest the last days of the Church Age are upon us, Satan is making every effort to belittle Christian faith.  After all, if Christianity is shown to be bad in the eyes of most people in the world, if all of the Christians disappear, that will be viewed as a good event.  The Rapture will become a non-event in the eyes of the world.

I cannot help but think that this increase in discoveries designed to disprove Christianity is Satan's great final attempt to prove the worthlessness of the Chruch in the eyes of the world.  The more he succeeds, the fewer people will be willing to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. This makes our task harder, but not impossible, for we have God on our side.

As Easter arrives, invite your friends to church.  Tell them about the power of Jesus in your life.  Now is the day of salvation.
