Be A Witness
Different Types
Matthew 16:16
Simon Peter answered and said, You are the
Christ, the Son of the living God.
NKJV
Sharing Gods love demands that all of us share God. It is not my purpose to discuss in any detail the different forms of witnessing, but consider the following:
Peter was bold and confrontational but he declared Jesus to be the Son of the Living God (Matt 16:16)
Paul was intellectual and could present various arguments for people coming to Jesus, as on Mars Hill (Acts 17:22-34)
Dorcas has the heart of a servant and spread the love of Jesus through her works rather than her words (Acts 9:36-43).
Andrew was always inviting and bringing people to come to Jesus (John 1:40-43; 12:20-22).
There is a lot of overlap in these descriptions, and no one is completely one type without having the influence of another. But this simple outline provides you with a framework of putting your Christianity to work. Which are you? How do you spread your testimony about Jesus?
At the heart of all of these types of witnessing is a basic fact
- I was a sinner
- I came to an understanding that Jesus is God
- I recognized my sinful condition and the need to turn to God.
- I sought repentance and God in His grace and mercy granted this repentance.
- I was saved by my faith in Jesus Christ.
- Jesus continues to provide grace and mercy to me in my daily walk.
This process is the story of your life. It may be broken down into an even smaller outline as follows:
- Life Before Salvation
- Salvation
- Life After Salvation
