God's Attributes

Life-giver

Genesis 2:7
And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
KJV

God is the sole source of life. This includes the "life" of the universe, as well as all living creatures, including humans. God creates life in a mysterious fashion we cannot comprehend. It is enough for us that Scripture indicates God as the foundation of life.

God created man and woman, Adam and Eve. Indeed, God created Adam, then made woman from man's rib. It is Adam who named woman.

Genesis 3:20
And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living. KJV

Eve's name suggests the close link that Adam saw between life and God. Eve was to be the mother to all of mankind.

But, Jesus is the true source of life.

John 11:25
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: KJV
John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. KJV
Colossians 3:4
When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. KJV
John 1:3
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. KJV

And, not only is God the life-giver, He is the Sustainer of our life as well

John 6:35
And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. KJV
John 6:63
It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. KJV
Colossians 1:17
And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. KJV

What must be understood about this life-giving attribute of God, is that it applies not only to the body, but also to the soul. Soul's are eternal and determine our location during eternity -- heaven with God, or the lake of eternal punishment without God. This is the real choice. Has God made your soul alive in Christ?

1 Corinthians 15:45
And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. KJV
