God's Attributes

Sovereignty

Psalm 103:19
The Lord has established His throne in the heavens, And His sovereignty rules over all.
NASB

Sovereignty means that God's rule is independent, absolute, morally correct, not tyrannical, and managed by righteousness and wisdom.

Isaiah 46:9-10
9 “Remember the former things long past, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me, 10 Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, ‘My purpose will be established, And I will accomplish all My good pleasure’;
NASB

Ephesians 1:11
also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will, NASB

Psalm 135:6
Whatever the Lord pleases, He does, In heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deeps. NASB

The sovereignty of Jesus is seen in His creation of the universe

John 1:3
All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. NASB

. . . and in His supreme rule as the eternal Messiah

Isaiah 9:6
For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. NASB

The Holy Spirit's sovereignty is seen in His work in creation

Genesis 1:1-2
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. NASB
Job 26:13
By His breath the heavens are cleared; His hand has pierced the fleeing serpent. NASB

Sovereignty is the rule of God with royal power, morally without fear of contradiction. For example, God may love and exercise judgment and wrath without the fear of contradiction.

Omnipotence is the ability of God to exercise power.

Freedom is the desire of God to exercise power.

Sovereignty is God's rule by this power.
