Prayer
Yours is the Kingdom and Power
Matthew 6:8-13
8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father
knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. 9 After this manner
therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11
Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive
our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
KJV
For
Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.
Amen.
The model prayer ends with the majesty of God, just as it began. We need to close with the same praise we open with. We need to make our faith declarations again. We need to let God know we remember who is in charge. We can accomplish all of this by keeping God in the forefront of all we do.
1 Corinthians 10:31 Whatever you eat or drink or whatever you do, you must do all for the glory of God. NLT
One method of praying this prayer is to start with each line of the prayer and then add your own observations about the Bible and your personal experiences with God. By remember what the Bible says about God and His faithfulness we see the kingdom. By recalling God's actions in our own lives, we discover the power and glory of this kingdom at work in the world in a tangible fashion. We may use this picture of God&s kingdom to address people in our evangelistic efforts. We may use this picture of God's kingdom to find comfort in our own storms of life. We may discover the true power and glory of God. We will see how our lives bring glory to God.
What a blessing this truly is to each of us.
