Prayer

Prayer

Habakkuk 3:1-2
1 A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet, on Shigionoth. 2 O Lord, I have heard Your speech and was afraid; O Lord, revive Your work in the midst of the years! In the midst of the years make it known; In wrath remember mercy.
NKJV

Do you have to squeeze your God for His favors?

Are your gifts double-edged?

Is your God's heart ready to provide for you? Or, does He mock you and make fun of your requests?

Who do you pray to?

How do you talk to people? What determines your style, manner, approach, words, attitude?

Do you praise them? Do you complain? Do you argue?

All of these may be valid methods of conversation in a given situation. And, it may surprise you to know that all are valid methods of conversation with God -- so long as you ultimately remember who God really is. He is God!

Because God is personal to each of us, we can talk to Him as we would to others. But, it is important to remember that God deserves more than our common, everyday complaints and requests. We are dependent upon God as our Creator and Sustainer. To Him we owe our all. So, just as we thank others, we should daily thank God for the life of this day.

This is the great mystery of prayer. God listens to us and responds to our requests. While this response is not always in the manner we desire or want, He does respond. Why prayer is effective is one of the great mysteries of the Bible. But, the fact of the response is built upon the foundation of God's Word.

It is our love for God that should drive our prayer life. Prayer is a personal experience and we become better and more comfortable in our prayer life the more we pray. Reading these materials or other books on prayer may help you to focus or provide an idea as to the manner for approaching God on a particular topic, but it is only by the experience of prayer itself that we may improve our prayer life. Study only starts us down the proper path toward a fulfilling prayer life.

Should not you start today? Read on to learn more about prayer.
