God's Existence

Facts About Jesus

Revelation 22:12-13
Look! I am coming soon, and my reward is with me to pay each one according to what he has done! 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end!
The NET Bi

1. Jesus existed before He came to earth in human form.

John 1:1 -In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 17:5 - And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.

2. Jesus was creator with God the Father.

Colossians 1:16-17 - For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

3. Jesus humbled Himself for us.

Philippians 2:5-11 - Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Prior to Incarnation Jesus was God in His glory

At His Incarnation He
- was willing to empty Himself of His glory
- served as bondservant (walked as a servant)
- yet He is God (then and now)
- chose to become a man
- obeyed the Father's will, even to death on the cross

At His Resurrection He became
- highly exalted
- Lord

4. Jesus was both man and God. When He became man, He lay aside His glory but not His deity. (God-Man)

5. Jesus was the exact image of God.

Hebrews 1:3 - who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high

6. Jesus died as a sacrifice for the sins of the world.

Mark 10:45 - “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

1 Corinthians 6:20 - For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Ephesians 1:7 - In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace

1 Peter 1:18-19 - knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

Galatians 3:13 - Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”),

7. When Jesus died, He took our sins upon Himself and paid the price for sin.

1 Peter 3:18 - For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,

1 Peter 2:24-25 - who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. 25 For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

2 Corinthians 5:21 - For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Romans 5:6 - For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

8. By accepting Christ, we are declared righteous (justification) -- all on the basis of faith.

Romans 3:24 - being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,

Romans 3:26 - to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

Romans 3:28 - Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.

9. His Resurrection proves the deity of Jesus Christ.

Acts 2:24 - whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.

10. The Resurrection is the victory over sin and death.

1 Corinthians 15:54-57 - So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” 55 “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

11. His Ascension ended His earthly ministry.

Mark 16:19 - So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.

Luke 24:50-51 - And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. 51 Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven.

Acts 1:9-11 - Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”

12. Jesus is at the right hand of God the Father.

Acts 7:55-56 - But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God,56 and said, “Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!”

Ephesians 1:20 - which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,

13. Jesus will come again in power and glory.

Matthew 24:27-31 - “For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be .28 “For wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together. 29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 “Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 “And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

14. We should look for His appearing.

2 Timothy 4:8 - Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.

Titus 2:13 - looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,
